Permanent outdoor lighting on real homes

Finished Luminair installations across a range of architecture: warm white for every night of the year, colour scenes for the ones that matter, and close-ups of the hardware that makes it disappear by day.

What to look for in these photos

Every permanent lighting company posts night shots of lit houses, and at a glance they all look similar. Four things separate a system you will still like in year six from one you will not, and all four are visible in photographs if you know where to look.

Find the track in the daylight shots

Start with the close-ups taken in daylight. On a good install the track is colour-matched to the soffit and fascia and sits flush in the channel, so you have to hunt for it. If a company has no daylight photographs at all, that is the answer to the question you were about to ask.

Look at the white

Warm white should look like warm white, not like a colour system doing an impression of it. Systems that mix red, green and blue to make white read slightly off on a facade, particularly against stucco and stone. Our modules carry a dedicated warm-white emitter as its own channel, which is what you are seeing in the warm white photographs here.

Check the spacing

Fixtures should be evenly spaced along the whole run, including around corners and up gable rakes where it is harder to keep consistent. Uneven spacing is the most common sign of a rushed installation, and it is very obvious once you have noticed it.

See how colour reads from the street

Some of these were shot from across the road rather than from the driveway, because that is where your neighbours will see it from. A colour scene that looks striking up close can read as muddy at distance if the fixtures are underpowered. Compare the red and green and the purple shots of the same house: identical hardware, completely different effect, four seconds apart in the app.

If you want to see this on your own home rather than someone else's, the preview tool takes a photo, traces your roofline and lights it up in the browser.
