Warm white Luminair permanent lights on a newer two-storey home in north Calgary

Livingston, Carrington, and Ambleton are some of the newest communities on Calgary's northern edge, built mostly over the last several years. The streets are full of front-garage two-storeys, laned homes, semi-detached homes, and townhouses, many with fresh fascia and soffit and no exterior lighting yet. That makes them a natural fit for permanent lights: the track is colour-matched to the trim, reads as part of the house in daylight, and gives you warm white every night and holiday colour when you want it—without a ladder on a new driveway every November.

This page is the neighbourhood guide for these newer north Calgary communities. The quadrant overview is permanent Christmas lights in NW Calgary; nearby are Evanston, Sage Hill and Nolan Hill and Panorama Hills and Coventry Hills, and if your home is still being built see permanent lights for Calgary new builds.

What a permanent system is

A professional permanent system is colour-matched aluminum track fastened along the fascia or soffit, with fully sealed IP68 LED modules sitting inside the channel. A dedicated warm-white channel handles everyday architectural light, and colour channels cover Christmas, Halloween, Diwali, Canada Day, Flames nights, or whatever you schedule in the app. In daylight the track reads as part of the trim. Nothing is clipped to an eavestrough, and nothing comes down in January.

Front-garage two-storeys

The most common starting point is the full front: the garage eave plus the upper roofline. Those two levels light cleanly with one continuous line each, and the system is designed to extend, so you can add the sides or back later. Newer homes often have several small peaks over the entry and garage; every peak and change of direction is part of what we measure, so you get a fixed price based on your actual roofline.

Laned homes, semis, and townhouses

On a laned home the garage sits at the back, so most owners light the street-facing roofline first. On a semi-detached home each owner can light their own half, and if both neighbours want it we can plan the runs so they line up. Townhouse complexes usually have a condo board that controls the exterior, so check what applies before booking. See Calgary townhouses, duplexes and infills and permanent Christmas lights and Calgary HOA rules.

Brand-new homes and builder warranties

New fascia and soffit are in good shape for a fastened track, so there is usually no prep work. If your home is still under construction, it is easiest to plan an outdoor outlet and controller location now. If your home is newly possessed, it is worth checking your builder's warranty terms for anything about exterior attachments before booking. If you are not sure, ask us at the quote. Open exposure, wind, and cold

Newer communities on the edge of the city often have young trees and open exposure, so wind and blowing snow hit the roofline more directly. Clip-on strings on an eavestrough flap in the wind and sit in meltwater after a chinook. Fastened aluminum track with sealed IP68 modules mounts to the fascia or soffit, has no loose wire to catch the wind, and carries a 10-year warranty on the lights. What it costs

Price depends on the linear footage of eave you want lit, the number of gables and peaks, and how the high runs are reached—not on the community name. Published Canadian industry ranges commonly sit around $3,000 to $6,000 for a front-facing install; on many average two-storey Calgary homes the conversation often lands near $4,000 to $5,000. Bungalows and short fronts can come in lower; wide fronts, multi-gable roofs, tall rooflines, or full-home coverage run higher. Those are industry ranges for context, not a Luminair quote. Luminair measures your roofline and gives a fixed price. See the Calgary permanent Christmas lights cost guide.

Yes. Livingston, Carrington, Ambleton, and nearby north Calgary communities are part of the Calgary-area service area. Request a quote and we will confirm scheduling for your address.

My home is brand new. Can permanent lights go on right away?

Usually, yes. New fascia and soffit need no prep. If you are still within your builder warranty, check its terms for anything about exterior attachments before booking.

How much do permanent lights cost on a new north Calgary two-storey?

It depends on linear footage of eave, the number of peaks, and height rather than the community. Published industry ranges are roughly $3,000 to $6,000 for a front-facing install. Luminair measures and gives a fixed price.

Can I light only my half of a semi-detached home?

Yes. Each owner can light their own side, and if your neighbour wants lights too, we can plan the runs so both halves line up.

Where does the controller go?

Usually inside the garage or near an existing outdoor outlet. If a new weatherproof, GFCI-protected outdoor outlet is needed, that is work for a licensed electrician.
