Permanent lighting is a fixture attached to the exterior, not a seasonal decoration you take down. On a designated property that puts it in a different category from a string of clips. Lake-effect winter, and what it tests
London sits in the path of lake-effect snow off Lake Huron, which produces heavy accumulation and repeated melt-and-refreeze. It also spends much of the winter oscillating around freezing rather than sitting below it.
That combination is harder on sealed outdoor electronics than a colder, drier climate. Meltwater works into any gap in a housing, freezes overnight, expands, and widens the gap a little more with each cycle. What to ask any installer here
- The IP rating on the module, not on the controller or the box.
- Whether the fixtures have a dedicated warm-white emitter or simulate white from red, green and blue. It is obvious on a house every night that is not a holiday.
